Northern Africa

Sudan

Army-allied Joint Force spokesman Maj. Mutawakkil Ali Wakil said forces launched sweeping operations across Kordofan and recaptured Umm Sumayma, Kazgeil, Al-Hammadi and Abu Quoud, claiming dozens of Rapid Support Forces vehicles destroyed or seized, while the Sudanese army itself released no official battle details and RSF accounts disputed control of the same areas.[5][6] Anadolu earlier relayed military sources saying the army and allies had retaken Kazgeil and Abu Qaoud south of El-Obeid after fierce fighting.[7] Competing claims over the same towns remain unresolved in opened independent reporting.

Western Africa

Mali

Malian transitional president Assimi Goita visited Niamey and joined Nigerien President Abdourahamane Tiani in a joint communique reaffirming Confederation of Sahel States cooperation and counterterrorism work, Xinhua reported.[8]

Niger

The same Niamey communique said both leaders welcomed results claimed by the AES Unified Force, condemned destabilization attempts and pledged deeper defense, diplomacy and development coordination inside the bloc.[9]

Central Africa

Democratic Republic of the Congo

The death toll from an overnight raid by suspected Allied Democratic Forces fighters in Beni territory, North Kivu, rose to at least 33, Anadolu reported, citing territorial administrator Charles Omeonga on simultaneous attacks with machetes and firearms that also burned houses and businesses.[10] Al Jazeera, citing authorities and civil society, said attackers hit Cantine about 50 kilometers west of Beni, burned a health post and forced Ebola patients and suspected cases to flee as monitoring was disrupted.[11]

Eastern Africa

Somalia

Somalia’s Supreme Court ruled that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud unlawfully extended his term after parliament-backed changes, ordered political leaders to agree an electoral plan within 30 days and hold elections within 90 days, and said the president lacked authority to dismiss Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, BBC News reported.[12] The ruling deepens a presidency-judiciary standoff with security implications for election planning while al-Shabaab operations continue as a standing threat outside this window’s opened sources.

Domestic Affairs

Somalia’s court-presidency clash was the clearest domestic institutional crisis opened this window.[13] No new nationwide protest wave in Sudan, Congo or the AES states was documented in the sources checked.
