Trump Says US Is Talking to Iran and Could Be an Occupier

President Trump told reporters Friday that the United States is in talks with Iran and framed the conflict as under control. “We beat Iran. We are doing very well with Iran, we’re talking to Iran,” he said, adding that Hormuz is open and that oil business through the strait is at a record level, and that no American soldiers had been killed in the previous six or seven months[1].

In separate remarks after a NASA event in Florida, Trump suggested Washington “could be an occupier” in Iran, again claimed US control of Hormuz, and said Iranian forces had built an anti-aircraft site that the United States destroyed within minutes — language Anadolu linked to a limited Qeshm air-defense strike rather than a return to full-scale war[2]. Iran rejects US Hormuz-control claims and says the waterway stays shut until its conditions are met[3].

Axios, cited by Anadolu, reported that Vice President JD Vance has spent about two weeks in near-daily contact with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on a ceasefire and nuclear talks, and that Vance wrote Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei proposing direct negotiations. A working-level technical meeting has been discussed but not held; Vance has tied Republican midterm losses to the Iran war. State Warning, Nuclear Reward and Canada Sanctions

The State Department urged Americans in the Middle East to heighten vigilance over Iranian-supported Houthi attack threats and Iranian efforts to target US officials, and to prepare for flight cancellations and airspace closures. A travel.

US Central Command said Rewards for Justice is offering up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear facilities, equipment and personnel.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned eight Canada-based money services businesses under Operation Economic Outcast and Executive Order 13902 for allegedly moving assets for Iran and dealing with Revolutionary Guard–linked exchanges. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said Friday that Saudi-led air defenses destroyed a drone in the Riyadh region, and on Saturday that they destroyed a Houthi cruise missile aimed at the same region[10]. Saudi Civil Defense briefly posted a potential-danger alert for Jizan, then said the danger had passed[11].

Guards and Army: MQ-9 Claim Over Qeshm, Attack Warning

Iran’s army public relations office said Friday that “advanced systems” in the integrated air-defense network destroyed a US MQ-9 above Qeshm Island near Hormuz, calling the aircraft part of an “invading American enemy” force. Tasnim carried the claim; no US military confirmation or denial appeared in the opened sources[18].

Army spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia said a renewed US attack could not be ruled out despite reported naval withdrawals, that any response would be immediate and without geographical limits, and that Hormuz would stay closed until Iran’s conditions are met[19].

Diplomacy: Vance Channel, Araghchi’s 12 Calls, Iraq Mission

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed proposed calling agile, trusted smaller countries “Thriving States” that could jointly build a “supply chain of peace.” On US-Iran mediation he said Doha still works with US officials who have “very genuine intentions,” that midterms may change policies but not those intentions, and that engagement “did not stop and will not stop” even if the pace has slowed[21].

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, after a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, proposed a regional ministers’ mission to Tehran and Washington. Araghchi outlined a talks plan with a timetable, Hormuz reopening and earlier Pakistan-mediated points; Hussein warned tensions were rising[22]. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Araghchi held a second call in four days on preventing renewed US-Iran fighting[23].

On Saturday Araghchi said he had spoken with 12 foreign ministers over 48 hours — including Türkiye, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Tunisia and Iraq — on sovereignty, ending aggression and regional security without outside powers[24].

Israel: Eisenkot Progress Ahead of Sunday Mandate

Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot said Friday that emergency-government talks had made significant progress and that he hoped for a mandate early next week, citing 74 of 120 lawmakers who have not backed Benjamin Netanyahu against 46 who have. President Isaac Herzog still planned to name a mandate holder on Sunday after parties representing 67 seats recommended Eisenkot and 46 backed Netanyahu, with mutual vetoes unresolved[25].

Democrats leader Yair Golan warned of a deepening US crisis as planned military-aid cuts take hold and said Change Bloc talks with Yesh Atid were accelerating. Channel 12 reported Israel’s Finance Ministry learned only from Trump’s announcement that $3.8 billion in annual US aid expected for 2027–28 would end; Netanyahu’s office cast the shift as a move from aid to partnership[26].

Lebanon and Southern Syria

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the army is preparing for a possible new Lebanon round if Iran fighting resumes, updating positions and winter plans while watching for a US decision on further Iran operations. Lebanese state media said Saturday that Israeli forces demolished structures in Bani Hayyan, searched Khiam, shelled Wadi al-Hujair and fired overnight on border towns despite the June framework deal. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said attacks since March 2 had killed 4,390 and wounded 12,429 as of Nov. 5 — Beirut’s attributed tally[28].
