Copyright and DMCA Policy

Peter’s World respects the rights of creators and expects others to respect ours. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes your copyright, and how we respond.

This page is written in plain language to explain how Peter’s World works. It is not legal advice.

Our content

Unless noted otherwise, articles, trackers, graphics and the Peter’s World name and logo belong to Peter’s World. What you may and may not reuse is set out in section 5 of our Terms of Service.

How we use other people’s material

We quote short passages from official statements, news reports and other sources, with attribution and a link, for news reporting, commentary and criticism. When we point readers to other publishers, we use the headline, a short summary in our own words and a link to the original; we do not republish full articles. We use images that are public domain, licensed under Creative Commons or similar licenses, used with permission, or created by us. Our approach is on the Image Credits and Licensing page.

How to send a copyright notice

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, email contact@petersworld.org with the subject “Copyright notice”, or use our contact form. If Peter’s World registers a designated DMCA agent, its contact details will also appear in the US Copyright Office’s DMCA designated agent directory. Under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), please include:

  • your name, contact details and electronic or physical signature;
  • a description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed;
  • the exact URL of the material on petersworld.org;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.

We review every notice. Where a notice is valid, we will remove or disable the material promptly and, where we can, tell the person who supplied it. Often we can resolve a problem faster by adding a missing credit or replacing an image, so please tell us what outcome you want.

Counter-notices

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you have the right to use it, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) you can send a counter-notice to contact@petersworld.org. Include your contact details and signature, the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any district where Peter’s World may be found). We may restore the material after 10 to 14 business days unless the complaining party tells us it has filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

We will end access for, and stop accepting material from, anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.

False claims

Knowingly making a false copyright claim or counter-notice may lead to liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
