SANAA, Yemen — Saudi-led coalition airstrikes on Al-Shariya village east of Yemen’s capital killed at least 33 people on Nov. 7, 2026, most of them women and children, Houthi health ministry spokesman Anees Alasbahi said, The Times of Israel reported, citing agencies. The toll is a Houthi claim and has not been independently verified.
Houthi-run outlets Saba and Al-Masirah (Houthi-affiliated) earlier gave a toll of 22 dead and 30 wounded and claimed aircraft hit paramedics with two strikes, CBS News reported, citing AFP.
The Houthi account
Alasbahi said near-final figures were 12 men, eight women and 13 children dead, and 39 wounded, The Times of Israel reported. There was no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia.
The coalition’s account
Hours earlier, the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a Houthi missile heading toward Riyadh province, both outlets reported; The Times of Israel described it as a cruise missile.
A day earlier, an attack on a market in Taiz province killed 30 people. The Houthis blamed Saudi airstrikes, while Yemen’s government forces said the Houthis fired a ballistic missile at the site, the reports said.
A widening war
The U.N. says more than 1,600 people have been killed and more than 300,000 displaced since fighting resumed, the reports said. A 2022 truce collapsed in July after the Houthis let an Iranian plane land in Sanaa; the group later seized Yemen’s Red Sea coast and struck Riyadh’s airport, The Times of Israel reported.
What to watch
Assessment: Rising strike tolls on one side and missile launches at Riyadh on the other point to a war that is escalating, not stabilizing. Saudi Arabia is also seeking outside military help, including from Syria, which Damascus says is limited to training.
