Hawaii: JPMRC Partners Enter Simulated Combat
The US Department of War reported that after staging across the Hawaiian archipelago, US Army forces and multinational partners began training against opposing forces in Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center Rotation 27-01 on November 4, with the story posted November 6.[4] The rotation involves about 7,000 personnel from the United States and partners including South Korea, Singapore, France, New Zealand, Japan and the Maldives, rehearsing jungle and archipelagic large-scale combat procedures.[5] Brig. Gen. Robert Bryant, 25th Infantry Division deputy commander for support, said the division is synchronizing warfighting functions so light fighters can win in close combat.[6] New Zealand’s Defence Force separately said a Royal New Zealand Air Force rotary-wing task unit with two NH90 helicopters is at Wheeler Army Airfield for the same rotation through late November.[7]

Taiwan: MND Tracks Median-Line Sorties
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said that from 6 a.m. November 6 to 6 a.m. November 7 (UTC+8) it detected 11 PLA aircraft sorties, 10 PLAN ships and three official ships around Taiwan, with nine of the 11 sorties crossing the Taiwan Strait median line into Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ; ROC forces answered with CAP aircraft, Navy ships and coastal missiles.[9] USNI News, citing a November 3 graphic from Taiwan NSC Secretary-General Joseph Wu, placed the Liaoning carrier strike group in the Philippine Sea northeast of Luzon with cruisers Anshan and Wuxi and destroyer Huainan.[10] The Institute for the Study of War assessed on November 6 that the PRC may be running a major unannounced exercise simulating Taiwan’s isolation, citing Wu’s report of more than 100 PLAN and China Coast Guard vessels in the West Pacific and imagery consistent with the carrier Fujian leaving Sanya; that is an ISW assessment, not a Taiwan MND declaration of a named exercise.[11]
Japan and the Quad: Malabar Shore Phase, UAV Scrambles
USNI News reported that the United States, Japan, Australia and India opened Quad Exercise Malabar 2026 on November 5 with ships in Yokosuka for the shore phase, including Japan’s JS Ise and JS Mogami, India’s INS Sahyadri, Australia’s HMAS Stuart (with a P-8A), and US amphibious transports Anchorage and John P. Murtha plus a P-8A.[12] Japan scrambled fighters after Chinese WZ-7 and TB-001 reconnaissance UAV flights near the Miyako Strait and East China Sea in the days covered by the Pulse summary, and shadowed PLAN surface ships returning through the Miyako corridor.[13]
North Korea: KCNA Missile and Air-Defense Tests
USNI News summarized Korean Central News Agency claims of tactical ballistic and cruise-missile cluster-warhead tests earlier in the week, a new air-defense surface-to-air missile test, and a firepower demonstration with cruise missiles against a mock airfield on November 4; South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea fired multiple missiles into the Sea of Japan from the Sondok area.[14] KCNA claims are treated as claims; Seoul’s JCS statement is the partner confirmation cited for the Sea of Japan firings.[15]
Philippines and South China Sea
USNI noted USS Theodore Roosevelt conducted a replenishment-at-sea with Australia’s HMAS Stalwart in the South China Sea and that the Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group later pulled into Singapore ahead of a reported Malacca transit toward the Middle East; no new Philippine-China clash with primary government confirmation opened in this window beyond those ship movements.[16]
