Report: PLA May Be Rehearsing Taiwan’s Isolation
China might be conducting a major, unannounced exercise simulating the isolation of Taiwan that is larger than the PLA’s Justice Mission 2025, the American Enterprise Institute and the Institute for the Study of War said in a joint report on Friday, the Taipei Times reported.[1]
The report said forces from the eastern, northern and southern theater commands may be involved. It cited Taiwan National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu, who said more than 100 PLA Navy and China Coast Guard vessels were operating in the western Pacific, and described two main concentrations between Taiwan and its principal partners.[1] The report describes the exercise as possible, not confirmed.

Nothing is set; the gathering would come this month on the sidelines of a regional summit in southern China.[2]

The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, meeting in The Hague with 52 lawmakers from 30 countries, named peace in the Taiwan Strait and resilience against economic coercion as its priorities for the coming year.[4]
China’s Reach Abroad
Safeguard Defenders said in a report released Friday that nearly 1,250 formally designated Chinese overseas policing operations exist in at least 91 countries, the Taipei Times reported.[5]
