Key Takeaways: 5 things to know

  1. China launched Yaogan-51 remote-sensing satellites 07-09 from Xichang on a Long March-2C rocket (see China Launch section).
  2. A US Space Force feed highlighted an Air Force enterprise blueprint for sensing across 15 mission domains (see US Space Force section).
  3. A Defense Intelligence Agency assessment described Iran as an emerging space power that jammed US space links in earlier fighting (see Iran section).
  4. The US Department of War posted no dedicated space-strike release in this window (see Military section).
  5. US Space Command’s public feed returned empty on one attempt and was not retried (see Sources note).

This Space War update for November 6, 2026, covers China’s Yaogan-51 remote-sensing launch from Xichang, a Space Force RSS item on an enterprise sensing-and-identification blueprint, and a Defense Intelligence Agency assessment describing Iran as an emerging space power.[1][2][3] It follows yesterday’s Space War update; see the War Room. Light day for US strike announcements.

China Launch: Yaogan-51 From Xichang

Chinese state media said Yaogan-51 satellites 07-09 launched aboard a Long March-2C from Xichang and entered preset orbits, the 675th Long March mission.[11] Same fact as today’s Indo-Pacific report.

US Space Force: Enterprise Sensing Blueprint

Space Force RSS listed a Nov 5 article titled on a Department of the Air Force enterprise blueprint to field operational sensing and identification across 15 mission domains.[12] The article HTML returned HTTP 403 on one attempt; details beyond the RSS headline were not recovered. Prior Space Force items on commercial industry days remain background.

Iran as Emerging Space Power (DIA)

Anadolu relayed a Defense Intelligence Agency assessment describing Iran as an emerging space power that took offensive action against US space capabilities during Operation Epic Fury using land-based jamming against satellite GPS, and that Tehran is expanding military and civilian space programs.[13] Brig. Gen. Todd Benson of Space Forces Central was quoted in related commentary that space is accessible and affordable; AEI-linked counts put Iran near a dozen operational satellites.[14]

Analysis

About the framework

Geography & Strategic Position

Xichang again hosted a Long March-2C Yaogan mission, while DIA’s Iran assessment keeps West Asia on the counterspace map alongside US Space Force enterprise blueprints.[4][5]

Military & Security

war.gov had no dedicated space-strike release; Space Force RSS carried a Nov 5 Department of the Air Force item on an enterprise blueprint to field operational sensing and identification across 15 mission domains (article HTML returned HTTP 403 on one attempt; summary from RSS title/context).[6][7]

Alliances & Diplomatic Networks

No new allied space-sharing pact was announced in the opened official feeds.[6]

Economic & Industrial Power

China’s launch cadence continues to add remote-sensing capacity that outside analysts treat as dual-use.[8]

Technology & Critical Infrastructure

DIA said Iran used land-based jamming against US space capabilities during earlier fighting and is expanding military and civilian space programs; AEI data cited in the same relay put Iran at around a dozen operational satellites versus far larger US constellations.[9]

Domestic Politics & Information

Not a driver for this light space day.[6]

Strategic Leverage & Outcomes

Beijing adds sensors; Tehran is assessed as an emerging jammer and launcher; USSF messaging focuses on enterprise sensing blueprints rather than a new kinetic event.[10]

Strategic assessment

Relative advantage
The United States retains constellation scale; China retains launch tempo.
Critical vulnerability
GPS and satellite links under regional jamming, per DIA on Iran.
Decisive uncertainty
How fast Space Force fields the advertised sensing blueprint.
Likely trajectory
More Yaogan-class launches and more Iran space assessments.
Strategic outcome
Not yet determinable.
