KYIV — The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost its last operating outside power line at 02:36 on Nov. 8, Ukraine’s Energoatom said, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

What Energoatom said

The 330 kV Ferrosplavna-1 line went down and an automatic attempt to reconnect it failed, leaving the plant dependent on backup diesel generators. Energoatom said it is the 16th total loss of outside power in 2026.

The company warned that if generators fail or run out of fuel, nuclear fuel cooling could be at risk.

What to watch

Assessment: How fast an outside line is restored will determine how long the plant depends on diesel.
