Zelenskyy Says War Likely Into Winter After Inconclusive Kyiv Talks With U.S. Envoys

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the war with Russia looks set to continue into winter after talks in Kyiv with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner produced upbeat assessments but no breakthrough.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv on September 6 after talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. A White House official told AFP the Moscow meetings discussed substantive plans. A Ukrainian official told AFP the latest U.S. proposals were more effective than earlier rounds.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine hoped for American and European support if fighting continues into winter. LIGA.net and bne IntelliNews reported his winter package focus on air defense, energy support, and American LNG. A capital strike pause eased travel; fighting elsewhere continued.
